Supervision
I have an integrative approach as a supervisor which means that I draw on a wide range of theories and approaches.
However, my primary approach draws from the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision (Hawkins and Shohet 2012).
The seven modes—or focal areas—to this model are;
- The client and what and how they present.
- The strategies and interventions used by the supervisee.
- The relationship between the client and the supervisee.
- The internal experience of the supervisee.
- The here and now supervisory relationship.
- The internal experience of the supervisor.
- The wider context in which the work happens.
This is a relational model which focuses on the relationship between the client, supervisee, supervisor and how this work within the wider context where the work takes place.
This approach provides an opportunity for the supervisee to reflect deeply on their work from several perspectives.
This process of supervision support allows the supervisee to develop personal and professional competence and ensures the work with client is done safely, effectively and ethically.
As a supervisor, I am committed to developing a trusting supervisory relationship with you where you feel safe to explore both the successes and challenges you face in your practice.
