The predictability and reliability of the changing seasons

I love that I can experience the four seasons from my large dining room window. Each year I am reminded that the seasons are broadcasting messages and painting canvases.

The white and pink flower petals along with the shoots of the green leaves bursting forth into life filled with hope, excitement and joyful possibilities.

The large trumpet shaped daffodils announce waves of optimism.

After the dark nights of winter comes the brightness of spring with its promises of new beginnings, new goals, dreams and confidence.

The green foliage stretching, yearning towards the sun and bending gracefully toward the ground as it whistles in the warm summer breeze.

The lusciousness of the summer flowers invite bees and butterflies who hurriedly feast as if knowing that this is but for a season.

Hid within the cluster of leaves are the secrets of barrenness and the display of fruitfulness.

Summer with the warmth of the sun promises purpose, achievement and satisfaction.

The mingling of fiery reds, zesty yellows, warmth of oranges and the duskiness of browns heralded the transition from the bright busyness of summer to the winding down of autumn with shorter daylight and cooler temperatures.

It roars of a bountiful harvest but also of a time of letting go and of grief.

Autumn with its feeling of warmth and comfort invites reflection on what have been and what could have been.

The tiredness of naked branches signifies the end of a journey, time to conserve as there is nothing left to give.

An inevitable surrender to the lifelessness and solitude of winter.

The sparkle of each snowflake generates perseverance, endurance and resilience. The dawning of light during the darkness.

I pondered on the consistency of this cycle of life with the offer of comfort and hope blended with signals pointing to the past and the future.

I wonder about the transience of my own seasons, my preparedness to embrace, to flee and to resist this rhythm of change.

I wonder about you. How are you navigating your seasons?

Be gracious with your ever changing and evolving self.
